Stratasys F770 3D Printer - First in Florida

RENNtech Engineering has utilized 3D printers to create prototypes, jigs, and parts for over two decades. Our most recent addition to the printer lineup is the Stratasys F770, which is capable of printing large parts over 3 feet in length / width and is the first one of its kind in the State of Florida.

The use of 3D printing helps lowering cost and lead time of production parts though verifying concepts and fitment, and shortens the time-to-market for new products. This allows RENNtech to introduce new products to the market at competitive prices without compromising design, quality or time.

3D printing has always been a great tool for rapid prototyping, but there’s a common problem of build volume being too small. With the F770 is capable of producing large parts in one or two pieces instead of five or six. This will enable us to design, and prototype printed parts we have not attempted before; like hoods, widebody kits, and doors. The upcoming years will be very imaginative and exciting, I cannot wait to see what we come up with. “ – Connor Salley, Engineer RENNtech

The Stratasys F770 uses the highest quality ABS and ASA materials which can be used for large size prototypes or lightweight production pieces. The first production piece from the Stratasys F770 will be the Eurostyle Bumper Plate designed for the C257 CLS -chassis.

Designed in house, the Eurostyle Bumper Plate is designed to eliminate the unsightly American “bumperette”, replacing it with a form-fitting insert for a sleek look. After printing, the part will be test-fitted and then finished in either primer or gloss black before made available for our customers.

Other performance products that benefit from 3D printing at this scale include our carbon fiber Aero products. With prototype Aero parts we can test fit and visually inspect parts designed in CAD before moving to carbon fiber manufacturing, a valuable pre-production feature of 3D printing which benefits the end user – the Mercedes-AMG Performance enthusiast.

2015 SEMA AMG GT S RENNtech : The foundation for AMG GT performance.

2015 SEMA AMG GT S RENNtech:
The foundation for AMG GT performance.

Since we converted our first customer car into an official AMG vehicle back in 1989, our development vehicles have represented the pinnacle of contemporary automotive engineering, design, and customization. Over the past 33 years, dozens of these historically significant vehicles have been featured on magazine covers, news articles, videos, blogs, and documented in the RENNtech 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Calendar.  Among these is the one-off custom 2015 AMG GT S which served as RENNtech’s development vehicle for most of the AMG GT -series performance upgrades.

1991 RENNtech E60                                                       2008 GLK Pikes Peak Concept                                      2011 C74 Konzept Widebody

Performance development begins with our Engineering team recognizing a deficiency and presenting ideas on how to improve the performance of the vehicle. From that point on the vehicle typically undergoes several stages of R&D and thousands of hours of engineering, design, testing, and marketing.

After winning the Mercedes-Benz Mission: Metris Van Challenge at the 2014 SEMA Show with the DJ Van, RENNtech was invited to compete in the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational at the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

With an extremely short timeline of only 7 months from receiving the GT S, RENNtech's engineering team unveiled the fully RENNtech'd AMG GT S in November. With a remapped ECU tune, Downpipes with Sport Cats, Coil-over Suspension, 3pc Forged RPS-10 Wheels, and a RENNtech designed all-around aerodynamic package, consisting of Splitter, Diffuser with Exhaust Tips, Rocker Panels and Adjustable DTM-Style Wing. With this spectacular feat of speed and execution, the RENNtech GT S stunned enthusiasts, the automotive media, and the Mercedes-AMG Tuning Industry.

Subsequently the GT S continued to serve as RENNtech's development car pushing the limits of power and performance of the AMG GT / S -series, resulting in the 731 HP & 633 TQ R3 -upgrade and hatching production performance upgrades for the global Mercedes-AMG GT Performance aftermarket.

Once the development vehicles have reached maturity, we make them available to the RENNtech community through our website. Many of our prior development cars have found their way into private collections, museums, and promotional vehicles for Mercedes-Benz. The one-off AMG GT S recently found a new owner on Bring A Trailer who will get to enjoy the fruits of our labor while we continue to develop the next era of Performance Without Compromise
